In her work, Mika Schwarz combines images, text, objects and videos to create spatial installations and speculative systems. Recurring anchor points so far have been aspects of archaeology, time as matter, but also her own origins and related questions on social hierarchies. She studied at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts and completed semesters abroad at the Accademia di Belle Arti Napoli and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her work has been shown at Förderverein Aktuelle Kunst Münster, Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst (GfZK) Leipzig, Goethe Institute Paris, Tel Aviv and Lyon, and the Art Future Biennale Riga among others. Since 2020, she has held teaching positions at the Technical University of Berlin.
